I took my artist date on Wednesday this week and headed north out of Rhode Island bound for the IKEA store in Stoughton, Massachusetts which is always a source of inspiration.
Fine piece, Carol. For a number of years now I have moved toward less need/desire to accumulate stuff. During pandemic, I caved a little because buying online gave me some feeling of control over my life in the face of a chaos the paradoxically felt as though it was controlling me. Didn't go overboard, although I did buy a few artist supplies and such thinking I would exercise some creativity. Most are still unused.... Anyway, now I am trying to divest myself of a lot of stuff so as to declutter my house. But I don't have control over all the stuff in the house, so I can only aspire to part of the goal! I feel better, though, about not needing things, so there's that. And when I think about gift-giving occasions I find that now I would far rather receive gifts of experiences from a massage to dining with friends, and such. There are some benefits to gaining a little wisdom with age!
Thank you for putting this thought into words. Unfortunately, today, Covid has me and its grips. I’ve dodged the bullet all this time, and now it’s my turn 🙁
Oh no… I’m so so sorry to hear this … a speedy recovery … I don’t want to even put it out there that I too as far as I know - have also dodged that bullet. And yes, covid is back (?) or never left. Rest .. 🙏🏻❤️
So true Carol!! I am going through my stuff again after downsizing 16 years ago. I have to much stuff again , so planning how to share as my children are done getting stuff from Mom!! This motivates me to get my stuff done!! Thanks 😊
I just had this conversation with a real estate client I have, that is selling the family home due to mom going into an assisted living facility. I always think of you, with less is more.

So well said, Jamie. Stuff, begone! 😊🤣😎
Your life sounds like a breath of fresh air. Very happy for you my friend, it’s a calming read. An expansive stretch of one’s breath. 🙏🏻🩷

Beautiful sentiment and speaks to my heart! Your home and studio are the epitome of loving minimalism and your heart is present throughout.
Aw, thanks so much, Kate! Hope we meet again soon 💙🙏💙
