Loyal readers.
It’s been weeks since I’ve written to you. Initially, back-to-back complex eye surgeries prevented me from corresponding. Then, three weeks ago, with my surgeon’s approval (and a list of specialists should the procedure go south), I embarked on another cross-country road trip (my fourth)—-this time in a 16-foot Airstream (a trip that had been planned for many months).
I write to you today to announce a shift. That shift comes naturally after such a broad-based trip. I am never the same person upon return. Travel changes me and you.
As the founder and midwife of The Footloose Muse group, I have taken my mission seriously: to inspire you all to live your wildest creative lives, to not die with the music still in you, as the late Wayne Dyer said. Many of you have written to tell me wonderful stories about creative dreams coming to fruition. I am humbled.
My sense now is that my work in that regard is complete. It’s time for this creative spirit to answer a different call. And although I know not yet what that means, I want to let those of you who have put your trust (and dollars) in me that you’re free to leave this platform. Although I hope you won’t; I can’t guarantee I will have anything meaningful to contribute in the weeks and months ahead.
If you are a free subscriber, feel free to stay. If you are a paid subscriber, whether monthly or yearly, I will understand if you pull the plug.
Many thoughts are floating around in this gypsy’s head. For the present though, I am going to let the muse have her way, in her good time, with me.
Love,
Carol
Your message is beautifully introspective and heartfelt. It captures the essence of personal transformation that comes from travel and the creative journey. Here’s a response that acknowledges your sentiments while encouraging you to embrace this new chapter:
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It’s clear that your recent experiences have stirred profound reflections, and I appreciate your honesty in expressing where you find yourself at this moment.
Travel has a unique way of reshaping our perspectives, and it’s inspiring to hear how it has influenced your creative spirit. Your role as the founder of The Footloose Muse group has undoubtedly touched many lives, igniting the flames of creativity in those who have followed your lead. The stories of dreams realized are a testament to the impact you’ve made.
As you embark on this new phase, it’s perfectly natural to feel uncertainty about what lies ahead. Embracing the unknown can be both daunting and exhilarating. Allowing the muse to guide you is a beautiful approach, and I have no doubt that whatever comes next will be infused with the same passion and authenticity you’ve shared with us.
Whether subscribers choose to stay or go, the community you’ve built will always carry the essence of your mission. Remember, it’s okay to take a step back and explore what this new call means for you. Your journey is far from over; it’s simply evolving.
Wishing you clarity, inspiration, and the freedom to explore this next chapter at your own pace.
Warmly,
Mike
I am not surprised, as I felt there were changes and new pathways opening up for you. Blessings on your new unfolding chapter. I will continue to hold you and my original FM "The Artist's Way" sisters in my daily distance Reiki, but I think I will end my paid membership as I continue to pursue downsizing in my own life. (How do I go about ending the membership?) I hope that you will share your art and travels still on FB. I am thankful for your presence in my life.
